On April 16th 2013 when The Teaching Council, in consultation with the National Induction Programme for Teachers (NIPT), taking account of feedback received from NQTs, has changed the requirements with regard to the number of workshops NQTs must attend in order to satisfy the induction condition of their registration.
All teachers registered with the Teaching Council since July 2012 subject to the Induction Workshop Programme condition will now satisfy that condition when they complete 10 workshops.
When teachers have completed ten workshops, the Education Centre Network will send verification of this to the Teaching Council. The Council will update the teacher's record on the Register and remove the condition. There is, therefore, no need for teachers to notify the Council when they have completed ten workshops.
The full suite of workshops will continue to be available and the Teaching Council, NIPT and ATECI recommend that NQTs attend all workshops, though attendance at 10 workshops is deemed sufficient for registration purposes.
If you have completed 10 workshops and will not be attending the remaining workshops it is essential that you inform your local Education Centre immediately.

Teaching & Learning in the 21st Century ( TL21)
This project is being run in conjunction with the National University of Ireland, Maynooth ( NUIM).Small teams from Post Primary Schools address a topic, share information and expertise , undertake action research and use their newly acquired knowledge to improve teaching and learning. There is a also provision for teachers interested in working on a Master’s degree to incorporate experiences and work from this project with their Master’s studies.
Choose Safety: Transition Year
This project is run in conjunction with the Health & Safety Authority. It highlights health and safety concerns for students in preparation for work experience.
National Architects in Schools Initiative: Transition Year
This project is in conjunction with the Irish Architecture Foundation ( IAF) and provides students with first-hand experience of the design process under the guidance of an architect or architecture graduate. Fully trained architects will link with schools and deliver student workshops
Mental Health Initiative:
This initiative is a collaboration between the Association of Teacher/Education Centre of Ireland ( ATECI) Headstrong and SPHE. Three teachers trained to deliver an awareness raising programme on the issue of teenage mental health will be available to support schools in their development of a whole-school approach in the promotion of positive mental health for all.
Trained Tutors are now available to assist schools in the promotion of Literacy across all curricular areas.
Restorative Practices: Post Primary Schools
Restorative Practices promotes the philosophy of individuals taking responsibility for their actions, accepting the repercussions and making amends. It sits well within a school’s Code of Discipline. This is an opportunity to embed Restorative Practices within schools and to promote closer relations between Post Primary Schools and their feeder Primary Schools.
This project continues to run in conjunction with the Irish Fisheries Board. It fits perfectly within the SESE curriculum and is easily incorporated into many other aspects of the curriculum.
This competition will expand this year to include additional schools.
Samba drumming is a collective drumming style so simple that everyone can join in the drumming party! Drums are available for borrowing from the Centre.
In conjunction with the Craft Council of Ireland a craftsperson will work with schools on a project over a specified period of time culminating in a Crafted exhibition in Co Wexford Education Centre in Spring 2014.
School Excellence Award:
In conjunction with Waterford Institute of Technology ( WIT) teams of teachers from schools will work , this year , on ‘Energy'
iPods, iPads & Androids:
Co Wexford Education Centre has purchased a set of 30 iPods, 20 iPads & 22 Androids which can be borrowed by schools for a set period for educational use in the classroom.
First steps writing & first steps speaking & listening:
This support is only available to schools where teachers attended the summer course in writing or speaking and listening. Tutors will facilitate and assist teachers in the embedding of the first steps process in their schools.

Delivery of Maths Recovery continues with in-service for 1st & 2nd classes repeated and the introduction of in-service for 3rd & 4th classes.
